The new DeWalt Cordless 7-inch polisher (model DCM849P2) has the sort of power and performance that tackles cars, headlights, windshields, fiberglass, gelcoat, and glass applications. DeWalt upgraded to a brushless motor in the DCM849P2, ramping up the tool’s power and efficiency. It can crank out a no-load speed between 800 and 2,200 RPM, and you have the ability to set and monitor your speed via the variable speed trigger and speed control dial.

Ergonomically, DeWalt has added some features to help you keep your work pristine and scratch-free as well. The battery on the new 7-inch polisher runs sideways to keep it out of your way as you maneuver. A rubber gear case overmold improves the tool’s gripping surface, particularly at the front grip position. The included auxiliary handle screws easily into the left or right side, but you can also remove it and opt for the included bail handle.

Compared to corded polishers of this size, the 4.8 pounds tool-only weight compares very favorably to 10-amp corded models. Add 1.4 pounds for the 5Ah or 6Ah battery and you still land at a lightweight 6.2 pounds.
