If you want the benefits of a battery-powered blower with the blowing force of a gas backpack blower, EGO's 765 CFM blower is exactly what you need. Not every homeowner needs that kind of power and EGO has other models that may be a better fit. But for blowing performance no other brand can currently match, EGO leads the pack.
While it’s not quite as impactful as the 20th century Space Race, manufacturers are pushing the performance limits for cordless blowers, and EGO tends to lead the drive. The latest contender is the EGO 765 CFM blower which boasts impressive stats, but is it enough to dethrone both battery and gas-powered competition once and for all?
Even before testing, EGO’s specifications of 765 CFM and 200 MPH are impressive. If you’ve been around PTR for a while, you know it’s Newton force that tells us the most, though.
In that regard, the EGO 765 CFM blower takes the cake by surpassing the 26N mark! With the included 5.0Ah battery, we put this blower to the test on our force meter and experimented with the included nozzles. It gets the highest blowing force with neither installed.
On high, it produced 15.9N, and when we hit the turbo button that number spiked up to 25.3N. Even with the kitted pack, that’s the strongest battery-powered blower we’ve tested by far.
But what about EGO’s claim that it hits 26N? Since you can get more power out of higher-capacity batteries, we retested it with a 10.0Ah battery in an effort to hit the 26N mark. The monster pack ultimately got us to a peak output of 26.1N. Temperature, humidity, pressure, and other environmental factors affect force, and we typically see somewhat higher numbers in warmer months.
Although we hit our target, the 10.0Ah battery significantly increases the weight and we don’t recommend using it with a blower.
EGO’s blowing force is impressive, but let’s not lose focus on the overall picture. Gas handheld blowers, even Pro-grade models, top out around 12N. Clearly, this model is much higher than that. In fact, it’s the strongest handheld blower of any power source we’re aware of.
What’s really compelling is when you look at backpack blowers. Professional gas models start around 20N and there are several really good ones that peak in the mid-20s. Granted, high-end professional models such as Echo’s X-Series can reach well over 40N. Still, when you consider how much those blowers weigh and the fact that EGO is getting comparable power from a handheld unit, you have to take your hat off to the product development team.
We all know that with great power comes great battery consumption. EGO advertises up to 25 minutes on high and 15 minutes in turbo mode with a fully charged 5.0Ah battery. Our in-house testing came up a little bit shy of those numbers at 22:02 minutes and 13:05 minutes, respectively.
Considering the power output, those are good numbers for a cordless blower. To extend the runtime, use the cruise control dial to get the amount of blowing force you need without overdoing it.
For the most part, blowers are fairly basic when it comes to features but there are a few aspects worth mentioning surrounding the controls. Its primary control is a variable speed trigger and there’s also a cruise control dial that gives your finger some relief during extended use.
One nice thing about EGO’s cruise control design is that you can adjust the speed on the fly with one hand. With the cruise control dial on the left side, it’s easiest if you’re right-handed, but it’s a little more challenging to use if you’re left-handed.
Like other EGO blowers, there’s a turbo button that immediately kicks the brushless motor into high gear for maximum airflow no matter which setting you have the cruise control on. The fact that it’s a separate button helps you manage your battery life by using the most power only when you need to.
The EGO 56V 765 CFM leaf blower retails for $329 with a single 5.0Ah battery and charger, or $449 which includes an additional 5.0Ah battery. EGO has a 5-year tool warranty and a 3-year battery warranty.

Would it be possible to have a standardized blowing force test where you measure runtime and noise level at a standard blowing force? Maybe choose 15 and/or 20 N. This would allow for a more direct comparison between models.
