Professional Tool Reviews for Pros

Strong airflow with an effective range of 25 feet supported by the runtime of EGO's high-capacity batteries set this misting fan apart from other options you may be considering. It's clear to us the product team wanted to go beyond making a basic fan and did a great job making it the envy of your neighbors. As EGO continues to build out lifestyle products as well-designed as its lawn care products, it's building a very strong case as the must-have battery platform for homeowners.

Cordless fans are a great way to use the batteries you already have to make hot days more bearable. Most of them could use a little help in the CFM department, though. The EGO 18-inch battery-powered misting fan promises to take the cordless fan concept to a whole new level and we got our hands on it to see if they did.

EGO’s internal testing shows this fan is capable of moving up to 5000 CFM of air with speeds topping out at 20+ MPH. In fact, EGO claims it’s getting up to twice the airflow compared to other standard 20-inch box fans. Six speeds help you dial in the airflow from 1500 CFM on the low end to the full 5000 CFM in Turbo.

We used our anemometer to measure airspeed at 5 feet on low, medium, high, and turbo to see what you can expect sitting close to the fan.

To determine the fan’s effective range, we ran it in turbo and started measuring the airspeed from further away until it dropped to 2.5 MPH (the lowest speed you still have a reasonable cooling effect). We hit it right at 25 feet.

The EGO 18-inch battery-powered misting fan uses four nozzles and delivers theme park-level misting action at sporting events, tailgates, beach days, patio hangouts, jobsites, and more! Setting up the misting function is easy—simply drop the weighted intake filter in a bucket and select from 2 misting mode levels. EGO tells us it’s capable of effectively cooling area up to 540 square feet.

There are two modes to work with. Intermittent mode turns the pump on and off at specific intervals to prioritize water and battery efficiency. Continuous mode keeps the misting action going the whole time.

In terms of water use, expect to go through 3 gallons per hour in Continuous mode and 1.2 gallons in intermittent.

One of the great benefits EGO has is its 56V battery platform. Not only is it stronger than the batteries that power most cordless fans, but it also includes some seriously high-capacity options. For our runtime testing, we used a 5.0Ah battery to see how long it runs in both high and turbo (fan only, not misting).

EGO also tells us we can expect up to 60 hours of continuous runtime on low with a 5.0Ah battery.

Unfortunately, this fan isn’t a dual power hybrid like we’ve seen on other jobsite fans so keep an extra battery handy on long workdays. On the other hand, if you have the 10Ah or 12Ah batteries from EGO’s riding mowers, you don’t really need the AC function.

EGO points to how quiet the fan is and our tests confirm it. At low speed, it’s hard to tell it’s even on if you’re listening for it. We could even hear the refrigerator in our office over it.

At high speed, it’s still running just 68 decibels. Turbo bumps it up to 72.

Look for the misting fan online or in-store at your favorite EGO retailer. It retails for $249.99 at Lowe’s and comes with EGO’s 5-year warranty. At the time we’re writing this, there is not a kit option available.
