Professional Tool Reviews for Pros
The new generation Planex LHS 2 225 EQI-Plus long-reach drywall sander from Festool is finally available in the US. For those using drywall sanders, it combines LED lights with a random orbital drywall sander. The all-around LED light ring works like a built-in raking light. It’s gonna help you see anything that’s uneven while you’re sanding. For anyone who does this kind of work with tools like this—it’s way cool.
Officially dubbed the Festool Planex LHS 2 225 EQI-Plus, its random orbit sanding motion is designed to produce a smooth surface without any expensive reworks. It gives you the same expected adjustable suction power, and the variable working length makes this tool really easy to control and customize. Pair those with a clever T-handle and you’ve got a pretty ergonomic sander for both walls and ceilings.
Let me tell you, the addition of this new LED light ring is a game—I’m not gonna say it. But you get the idea. Be sure to check it out and see if it’s a good fit for your business.
Festool also kept the weight about the same on this model. Even with the LED lights, it stays about 8.8 lbs.
The Festool Planex Drywall Sander is not cheap, but nothing Festool makes is. For just under $1300, you get the sander, hose clip for attaching your vac hose to the T-handle, a hook and loop fastener, a pack of five P180 Granat sanding pads, and tosses in a SYS3 XXL Systainer to carry everything in.
