Professional Tool Reviews for Pros
Fall is here and those leaves aren’t going to collect themselves. Chores are inevitable, but why not make this particular one easier on yourself? Let the Ryobi 40V Vac Attack Leaf Mulcher Vacuum take care of the heavy lifting for you. This 2-in-1 solution vacuums up and mulches your leaves, and the thoughtful design takes a load off your back and arms.
The Ryobi 40V Vac Attack Mulcher has a couple of promising design elements. First, with 300 CFM and 75 MPH airspeed, it has the power to tackle the vast majority of what your trees drop in your lawn without grabbing every piece of mulch and small rock that’s in the way.
One of the big deals about this mulcher revolves around its mulching efficiency. As the Vac Attack vacuums in the leaves, its metal impeller reduces the volume down by a 16:1 ratio. That’s pretty impressive considering the Makita XBU04 18V X2 Cordless Blower Mulcher, which we gave pretty high marks, only reduces down to 10:1.
What’s more, the vac/mulcher also includes wheels on the bottom of the tube. This puts the nozzle where you need it while taking some of the weight off of your arms and back. Even though it weighs less than 13 lbs, we’ll take all the help we can get.
Home Depot has the Vac Attack as a bare tool and as a kit. As a bare tool, you can pick it up for $139. If you need a battery and charger, you can get it with a 40V 5.0Ah battery and a charger for $199. Ryobi backs the tool for 5 years.
Editor’s note: Ryobi’s 5.0Ah 40V batteries retail for $179. Getting the vac/mulcher along with that battery and a charger for $199 is a steal!
When he doesn't have his hands on tools himself, Chris is often the man behind the camera lens making the rest of the team look good. In his free time, you might find Chris with his nose jammed in a book, or tearing out his remaining hair while watching Liverpool FC. He enjoys his faith, family, friends, and the Oxford comma.
