Gardaí are investigating after thieves in Limerick used an angle grinder to break into a GAA club.
T he incident, which saw thousands of euros worth of equipment stolen, happened in the early hours of Tuesday November 23rd at Claughaun GAA club.
Those involved used a battery-operated angle grinder to cut a window to gain entry to the club.
They then cut the hinges off a door in order to remove it before escaping with their loot.
It has been reported that the thieves stole thousands of euros worth of weights and dumbbells, as well as causing damage to the GAA club building.
The perpetrators then loaded their stolen equipment up on one of the club’s pallet trucks before pushing the stolen goods across the road.
However, the Garda have since recovered the stolen goods and have returned them to Claughaun GAA Club.
The damage done to the windows and doors are to be repaired by volunteers.
Speaking to Sunday World, a spokesperson for the club praised Gardaí for their efforts.
"Thankfully the Garda recovered everything stolen and have returned it to us they deserve great praise for this."
