WA Police have charged three youths after allegedly attempting to cut open a safe in a home burglary on Monday morning.

Police arrested the three boys aged 10, 12 and 14, who jumped a fence in Rangeway, removing a window flywire security mesh to enter the property.

Police allege the boys stole jewellery and keys inside the home before accessing the property’s shed, where they took and angle grinder.

They attempted to cut open a firearms safe without success.

Geraldton police operations manager Sgt Shilo O’Neill said the boys kicked a door inside the home, causing property damage.

It is alleged the boys went to a property next door and committed another burglary where they were captured on CCTV footage.

“Police arrested the boys at around 12:25pm in possession of some of the stolen property,” Sgt O’Neill said.

The three boys have been charged with aggravated burglary, stealing and criminal damage.

They were due to face Geraldton Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
